Welcome to my Giveaway!

Hello new visitors and friends!

I want to start this by telling new people a bit about myself.

I am in my late 20s and I live with my husband and cat in North Carolina. I make my living doing archaeology and spend a great deal of time traveling all over the Southeastern United States.

When I am not working and traveling, I am happiest at home sewing.

I would consider myself a pretty modern quilter. In terms of sewing I love bright colors, paper piecing, solid fabrics, and making it work.

Okay, giveaway time.

I decided to give away a little prize pack of some of my favorite things. 'Cause I like you.

I am including 10 comic book boards. I have recently become addicted to using these to store fabric and I figured this would be a nice way for someone who has not tried this yet to give it a test drive.

My stash, all organized (okay, only part of my stash).

An issue of Generation Q. There are some great things in this one.

A Frixxon pen.

A tiny charm pack of Lario,  by Moda. These adorable charms make me smile, everything small is cute.

A fat eight of this cute flower fabric (I think it is DS quilts) and 2 half yards of these green prints from Joel Dewberry's Notting Hill line.

To enter all you have to do is tell me what homemade gift you like to give your friends and family? Do you make them all zippy pouches? Jam? Cookies? Quilts? You never make any gifts at all? I am looking for new ideas, tell me about your go-to present. Even better if you can link up to a tutorial or recipe.

Rules (necessary):
One comment per person please. Do not just write a random comment, please answer the question. The giveaway is open only to addresses shipping in the United States. I am terribly sorry about this, but this is my first giveaway and I need to crawl before I walk.

The giveaway will be open until May 10th at midnight (eastern time). I will choose the winner randomly from the comments and announce the winner on May 11th. If you are a no-reply blogger please leave an email address in your comment (you can use the someone[at]whatever[dot]com format to discourage spammers). If there is no email address and no contact information I will choose another winner.

Thanks for visiting! You should stop around again sometime.

For now, go enter more giveaways!

  4. Absolutely lovely and generous giveaway! (PS - This is my first time participating too.)
    Some non-quilt projects...
This is a great go-to present. My sister absolutely loves the version I made for her with all the extra pocket add-on's: http://www.noodle-head.com/2010/04/gathered-clutch-tutorial.html
Although I haven't seen this one in action, my mother did ooh and ahh at Christmas when I gave her my version of this accessory organizer. Much easier than I had imagined. http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2011/08/hanging-jewelry-holder-space-saver.html
And this is great. You can get away with using mixed, smaller pieces of fabric than it calls for: http://www.sew4home.com/projects/storage-solutions/travel-accessories-8-pocket-jewelry-pouch

  5. It depends on the year. It's generally something quilty or sewing related, but I tend to make all of my friends the same thing for birthdays, just personalized. Last year, I made mini quilts for all of them, and this year, I'm making pillows. It's sad that I need this system to keep track of what I've given to each person, but it helps me avoid repeats!

  126. What lovely fabric! I make lap quilts for gifts when I have the time. But if I need a quick gift, I make a beaded crystal suncatcher. Amazon sells 40 mm crystals fairly cheap, and they make wonderful rainbows. I put a beading string through the hole at the top of the crystal, add about 6 inches of beads to the string, and finish it with a metal keychain ring at the top for hanging the suncatcher. Your kitty obviously likes your quilts! So do I! Awesome work!

  137. Last year for Christmas I gave all knitted items (hot pads, scarves, mittens, etc) - but I got a sewing machine for Christmas and now I can sew and make quilts! My first sewn gifts are this month - compact tote bags for Mother's Day presents and a quilt for a wedding gift.

  139. I made my little ones Waldorf dolls this year. They aren't perfect, but they're cute! I try to do at least some handmade gifts each year. Especially to show my kids a nice gift doesn't need to be bought.

  140. I give baked good to neighbors and usually sewn gifts for family. In past years I have given tablerunners, potholders, coasters, aprons, fabric boxes. This year I would like to make zippered pouches, we'll see.

  151. First, thank you for having your giveaway open alittle later. I'm doing my best to work my way through them, hehe. I've never met or know an archaeologist, I've always thought that must be awesome! Your quilt is gorgeous! I've made, like you mentioned zipper pouches, tablerunners, wallhangings and quilts. For my sewing group I want to make pincushions and/or needlebook. There are lots on Pinterest!

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win. So generous! I'm a new follower via BlogLovin.
